Thomas is a founding member of Thorobird Companies a platform that acquires and operates a portfolio of impact brands, focusing on personal and economic development. Thorobird Real Estate (TRE) an urban real estate investor and developer operating primarily in the affordable housing space. TRE assists owners, communities and governments in the development and execution of impactful real estate investments and is currently developing 213 affordable homes at 581 Grant Avenue and a 125-key hotel in Peekskill, New York.
Thomas is passionate about social enterprise due to the existence of both measurable financial returns and immeasurable social impact and believes there is no better way to make an impact in business. Thomas leverages a background in quantitative finance and real estate development and an urban upbringing to create impactful investments for investors and communities. In addition to Thorobird Real Estate, Thorobird portfolio companies includes Mama’s and Papa’s, a chain of full-service pet stores and The Play Club, a chain of indoor playgrounds, providing safe spaces for children and parents alike to play and develop social skills.
A native of Lakeland, Florida, Thomas received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and International Relations from Colgate University and an MBA in Real Estate Finance and Entrepreneurship from Columbia Business School. He serves on several boards including the New York Real Estate Chamber (NYREC) and the National Fellowship for Black and Latino Male Educators (NFBLME). Thomas lives in New Jersey with his wife, artist Ai Sogawa Campbell, daughter Saia Rei and dogs, Tudy and Yuzu.
